Antonius "Tony" Jansen, beloved husband of the late Kay Jansen, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the age of 78 years.
Tony was born in Holland on the 10th day of the 10th month of 1929, the 10th child in a family of fourteen children. Tony immigrated to Canada in 1953 seeking a better life. On November 24, 1956 he married the love of his life, Catherina "Kay" Vanden Dungen in Picture Butte. Tony and Kay began raising their six children in Calgary where Tony worked at the Burns meat plant. In 1971, Tony followed his dream and bought the family farm east of Vauxhall where they raised the kids and the crops until 1995. When Tony and Kay retired they moved to Taber and focused on smaller harvests from their garden which they grew for the love of sharing with others. Tony loved the great outdoors, a regular cup of coffee, and his church. He lived by the motto – Work hard and treat people fairly.
