Lambert Cornelius "Pat" Acker was born in Bavaria, Germany on Dec 2, 1831. By the early 1850s, he was in Erie County, NY where he married Emelie Louisa Wilke (1835-1912). Their first daughter, Louisa, was born Dec 24, 1853. By 1863 they were living and farming in Grand Island, NY, still in Erie County.

Between 1865 and 1870, they moved to Tawas, Michigan with their nine children and stayed for several years before continuing west to Minnesota, settling first in Duluth by 1871 and then in Hermantown by 1880. The Ackers had 15 children, though not all lived to adulthood.

Pat was one of Hermantown's pioneer settlers along with his sons-in-law William Wentzlaff (married Mary Acker) and Ernst Stresow (married Caroline Acker.)

Pat died from the effects of a stroke on Wednesday, Nov 11, 1896 at home in Hermantown. His funeral was held at his home and he was buried in the Hermantown Cemetery on a hill under a pine tree.
