Jerry Francis "FRANK ADAMS"
Mr. Jerry Francis" Frank" Adams, 83, former long-time state editor of the Lexington Herald Leader, died Thursday, February 22, 1996, at Lafayette at Country Place, Lexington. Born September 23, 1912 in Hustonville, he graduated from Danville High School and received a journalism degree from the University of Kentucky in 1934. He was a deacon at Woodland Christian Church in Lexington. He worked for a time as associate editor of the Georgetown News and held similar posts at the Harrodsburg Herald and Somerset Journal before joining the Lexington Herald. During the War he was an infantry officer in the Pacific theater and participated in the Okinawa invasion. Survivors include his wife, Willie Hughes Smith Adams, and a son, William Douglas Adams of Atlanta; one grandchild and one great grandchild. A memorial service was held Tuesday, February 27, at 1:30 p.m. at Lafayette at Country Place, Lexington, with the Rev. Larry Metzger officiating. Pruitt Funeral Home, Lexington, was in charge of arrangements.
