Mrs. Harter was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, for 57 years. She enjoyed, most of all, spending time with her family. Her hobbies included quilting, sewing, and gardening. Cecilia was the St. Clair County Fair Queen of 1937.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Caroline, nee Bugger, Joseph; two brothers, Ervin Joseph and Alvin Joseph; and two sisters, Viola Joseph and Helen Scheibel.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James J. Harter, whom she married June 20, 1940, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lebanon, Ilinois and
four sons:

William (Janet) Harter of Belleville, IL,
Robert (Mary Beth) Harter of Charlotte, NC,
Mark (Elaine) Harter of Belleville, IL;
nine grandchildren:
James (Susan) Harter III,
Jeffrey Harter,
Jennifer Harter (Dr. Alex) Schillinger,
Scott Harter
Tim (fiancee, Lisa Wallje) Harter,
Sarah Harter,
Ben Harter,
Nathan Harter,
and Matthew Harter;
three great-granddaughters:
Alexis Schillinger,
Brienne Harter,
and Madelyn Schillinger;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, and mother-in-law.

Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 AM Wednedsay, August 10, 2005, from George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL, for a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Father John Myler officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, IL.
