The son of Solomon George & Sarah (Smith) Brindle, he married Eliza Jane Lind August 27, 1857, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and fathered John L., Isaiah, George, Rebekah Jane (b. 1857 - married a Wireman), Sarah (married a Livingstone), Margaret (married a Castle), Anna (married a Moore), Lillie, Dora E. (b. 11/05/70), and Levi (b. 02/02/74).

During the Civil War, he served with the 1st Pennsylvania Emergency Militia Regiment September 11 - 24, 1862, during a crisis period that culminated with the battle of Antietam. The unit saw no action and never left the state.

Cause of death is listed as "septicemia and uremia."

The Gettysburg Times, PA, October 1, 1921:

DIES AT MOUNT HOLLY
George Brindle, 85 years old, a well known citizen of Mount Holly, died at his home Thursday evening following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at his late home Monday morning at 10 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Mount Holly Cemetery.

Mr Brindle is survived by the following sons and daughters: Levi Brindle, Mount Holly; Mrs Rebecca Wireman, Idaho; Mrs Sara Livingstone, Dillsburg; Mrs Maggie Caftle, Dillsburg; Mrs Anna Moore, Walnut Bottom; and Lillie Brindle, Mount Holly.
