Albert R. Aitken, 93, of Rural Route 1, died at 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 1991, at Morton Terrace Nursing Home in Morton, IL.
Born Sept. 24, 1897, in Springfield, MO, to John M. and Melinda Isabell Rowden Aitken, he married Ethel May Pope on Sept. 15, 1916, in Springfield, MO. She died Jan. 31, 1986.
He also was preceded in death by two sons.
Surviving are one daughter, Wanda Pettigrew of Deer Creek; three sons, John A. of Fort Worth, Texas, Edward F. of Springfield, Mo., and Jack C. of Mozier; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and six great-greatgrandchildren.
He was a self-employed lawn excavator and contractor, retiring in 1984. He also was a truck driver for the Springfield Park Board for 19 years.
He was a member and elder of Nichol Street Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo.
