Ione H. Meyers, age 84, of Wausau died Sunday, June 24, 2012.
Ione was born October 30, 1927 to the late Richard and Marie (Schmidt) Schubring in Wausau, one of fourteen children. She graduated from Wausau Senior High School.
Ione married Harvey Berna on October 23, 1948 in Wausau. Together they moved to Milwaukee where they lived for many years. It was in Milwaukee that she worked at Woolworth as an accounting supervisor. After the death of Harvey in 1980, Ione moved back to [Northern] Wisconsin where she met Vernon Meyers. They were married on September 16, 1988. He preceded her in death in 2001.
Ione was an active member at Our Saviors Lutheran in Wausau. She also enjoyed going "Up North," painting, and snowmobiling.
Survivors include her sister Ruth Reetz; brothers Gordon (Mavis) Schubring, Lyle (Linda) Schubring, and Allan (Margeret) Schubring; sister-in-law Barb Schubring; brother-in-law Donald Krohn; five step children; and thirty nine nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers Maynard (Carol) Schubring, Rodney Schubring, Dale (Janet) Schubring, Kenneth (Virginia) Schubring, Frederic Schubring, and Terrance Schubring; sisters Carmin (Wilfred) Carpenter, Deloris (Floyd) Radant, and Phyllis Krohn; and brother-in-law Lawrence Reetz.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 703 Flieth St, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Edwards will officiate. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials in Ione's name may be directed to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, 333 Pine Ridge Blvd, Wausau or a charity of choice .
The family would like to thank both the staff at Our House and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Service for their loving care of Ione.
