He was born at Greensburg, Pa. Jeremiah attended Lafayette College in part of his Freshman year. He went into oil operations in western, Pa. in 1878 and 1879: was receiving teller in the Exchange Bank, Bradford, Pa., for 3 years following: then cashier of the Barnes County Bank, Sanborn, Dakota, until Oct. 1887; then treasurer of the Jasper Trust Co. and the Corona Coal Co. at Jasper, Al. until 1890, and manager of the latter Co. until 1893, since which time he has been manager of The Allegheny Co. dealing in coal and coke, in Washington, District of Columbia. Burrell was married Jan. 20, 1886, to Miss Mary E. Crane of Manderin, Florida, and has 3 children: Maynard Crane, born March 3, 1889; Eva Leverich, born Feb. 5, 1891; and Henrietta, born Aug. 16, 1899
