He was the son of Judiah & Ruth (Draper) Aylworth. He spelled his surname "Aylesworth" as an adult.

He married Avill Beardsley on 3 December 1778, in Manchester, Bennington County, Vermont.

He is listed as a Second Major, during the Revolutionary War, on Captain William Hutchin's Provincial Troops Pay Roll from 1 May to 30 November 1778. He served 7 days in Colonel Samuel Fletcher's Regiment.

In 1781 he is again listed on Captain William Hutchins' Pay Roll, from the beginning of the 1781 campaign to 30 June 1781.

In 1790, he is on the U.S. Census living in Dorset, Bennington County, Vermont as "Ather" Aylsworth. In the household are Males 16 years & upwards (1), under 16 years (1); Females (7); p. 19.

His date of death is not yet known.
