Irene Metcalf was the daughter of Freeman and Sarah Metcalf of the Moose Lake area. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Ross, and a brother Ralph Metcalf. She ran the Y Pine Tavern for many years. During WWII she worked in California as a welder at Douglas Aircraft. She is survived by a daughter, Elsie I Wolfe, of Lake Station, IN (who has since passed away in 1999) two grandchildren, Herb Johnston and Lettichia Barron; great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Irene was a caring person willing to help out those down on their luck. She is greatly missed.
