Sarah's parents were John and Mary Ann (Young) Guy of Eastover. At least three of her brothers served in Company C, 54th NC Regiment, C.S.A. Two died of disease: Philemon, at Camp Mangum, near Raleigh; and Quinton, at Richmond, VA. Sarah lived with her son, John A. Young, and his wife, Ida (Autry) at the time of her death. Although the year was 1918, she did not die from the Spanish Infuenza. Sarah and Alex had unmarked graves. In 2008 some of their descendants collected funds, at a reunion, to place a memorial marker in the cemetery.
