AWTREY CANTRELL

Awtrey Mitchell Cantrell, 72, of the Hardy Apartments, died Saturday morning in a Rome hospital following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Cantrell was born in Bartow County on Nov. 28,1899, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Cantrell. He had spent the greater part of his life in Floyd County and prior to his retirement was self-employed. He was a member of the DeSoto Park Baptist Church. He was married to the late Annette Buford Cantrell, who died in 1967.

Mr. Cantrell is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Joyce Dunkin, Mrs. Martha Clemones and Mrs. June Tarpley, all of Rome; three sons, Floyd Cantrell of Kingston, Doyle Cantrell and Spence Cantrell, both of Rome; three sisters, Mrs. Lula Osborn of Waycross, Mrs. Ella McCluney and Mrs. Maggie Worthington, both of Rome; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted today at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Henderson-Frazier Funeral Home. The Rev. Horace Sheffielde will officiate. Interment will be in the familyu lot of Taylorsville. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home and the family will be at the residence of a daughter, Mrs. June Tarpley, 107 Wells Dr., Maplewood.
