Obituary published in the "Brewers Journal" in January 1906, Volume 31, page 18.

"Bernard Griesedieck Deceased. – Bernard Griesedieck, secretary of the National Brewery co., St. Louis, Mo., died on the morning of January 4 at St. Anthony's Hospital, in that city, following an operation for appendicitis.

Mr. Griesedieck was taken ill the Saturday before his death and on Sunday his condition became so serious that he was removed to the hospital from his home, 3438 Russell Avenue. He was fifty years old on New Year's Eve.

Bernard Griesedieck was born in Westphalia, Germany, and had been a resident of St. Louis for 36 years. As a result of his energy and perseverance he worked himself up from an obscure position to one of wealth and influence. He had been connected with the brewing interest of St. Louis many years.

Besides being secretary and treasurer of the National Brewery Co., he was president of the Griesedieck Artificial Ice Co. and vice-president of the Griesedieck Real Estate Co. While the Union Jockey Club was in existence, he was a director and stockholder in that corporation. He was also president of the Missouri State Brewers' Association.

He is survived by his wife, to whom he was married 15 years ago; daughter, Edna, and three brothers Henry, Joseph and Frank Griesedieck."
