Obituary published in the Savannah Morning News, July 17, 1926. The funeral of Gideon Hague Howard who died Thursday at 5:00 after a long illness at a local hospital was held yesterday at Elim, where the body was taken yesterday morning by Fox and Weeks. (The body was sent to Walthourville at 9:50 o'clock over the Atlantic Coast Line by Fox & Weeks.) The funeral took place at 1 o'clock from the Elim Church, burial being in the Elim Cemetery. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. G. W. Murray; and four brothers, W. W. Howard of Jesup, John A. Howard of Allenhurst, J. Lee Howard and T. H. Howard of Ludowici.
