Horace did not marry until he was 54 years old. He was a cabinet maker and had a shop at the top of Creamery Hill in Crown Point, NY. Horace's father John begged Horace to make him a coffin which he did after much persuasion. It was put on the front porch to season which caused much talk. (per his granddaughter)
