McCOOK LAKE, S.D. -- Roseann Helen Hummel, 59, of McCook Lake died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding of St. Boniface Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Madison, Wis.
Mrs. Hummel was born Feb. 26, 1945, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Edwin and Marion (Kaltenberg) Hecker.
She married Roger L. Hummel on June 29, 1991, in McCook Lake. She had worked for Interbake Foods for 27 years.
She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Hummel of McCook Lake; a son and his wife, Paul and Sue Mortweet of North Sioux City; a stepson and his wife, Keith and Clara Hummel of Jefferson, S.D.; three stepdaughters, Kelley and her husband, Stacey Luesebrink of Sioux City, Melissa and her husband, James Mead of Jefferson, S.D., and Mia Hummel and Tony Lang of Sioux City; a sister, Sharon Pederson of Watertown, Wis.; three brothers, Clarence "Butch" Hecker of Fort Atkinson, Wis., Ed Hecker of Stoughton, Wis., and Stephen Hecker of St. Joseph, Mich.; her mother-in-law, Leone Parson of Sioux City; 15 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Larry.
Memorials may be directed to Siouxland Cancer Center or Hospice of Siouxland.
