He was born in Waterville, Maine, Dec. 17, 1923, the son of Albertine (Landry) and Alfred A. Robbins Sr.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Pelieu, Okinawa and the Philippines, as well as of the Korean War.
Mr. Robbins retired to Vermont in 1976 after 30 years as a firefighter in Bridgeport, Conn. He was a ski instructor at Killington for special needs children.
He was a member of F&AM Corinthian Lodge 104, the Eastern Star, both in Bridgeport, Conn., and VFW Post 648, American Legion Post 31, Moose Lodge 1122, all of Rutland.
He enjoyed painting Vermont scenery.
Survivors include a daughter, Colleen Rossomando, and his former wife, Mildred Robbins, both of Naples, Fla.; two stepchildren, Bonnie Fish of Rutland and Dennis Reynolds Sr. of Tennessee; a sister, Arline Coston of San Antonio, Texas; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Robbins was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Reynolds Robbins, in 2000 and four siblings, Jack Robbins, Tina Frost, Margaret Martin and Shirley Damiani.
There are no calling hours.
The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, at Wallingford Baptist Church. Burial will follow in East Clarendon Cemetery.
