Jay Clark Bishop of Selma died on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the age of 100, surrounded by his family. Clark was blessed with a long and full life, marked by hard work and unbounded devotion to his family. He was the next youngest of ten children born in Highland, Kansas to Jay Lee and Lena Bishop. At the age of five he moved with his family to a ranch northeast of Selma. Clark attended Fruitvale and Terry schools and Selma High School. As a young man he worked on farms throughout the valley and in the early 1940's he headed to the Bay Area for employment at the Standard Oil refinery in Richmond, CA. In the summer of 1941, close friends arranged a blind date to the Del Rey Fair for Clark and a beautiful young hair stylist, Ethel Anderson. They were married in 1942 and have enjoyed seventy wonderful years together. Clark retired from a long career as manager of the Consolidated Irrigation District in Selma.

Graveside services for Clark will be held at Floral Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, under the direction of Page Funeral Chapel.
