Milo was a proud 30-year veteran of the United States Army, rising to the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He served both in the Pacific Theater during WW II, battling from Papua, New Guinea to Luzon, Philippines, and also in the Vietnam War, earning the Asiatic Pacific Campaign, Philippine Liberation (with two Bronze Stars), American Campaign, World War II Victory, Army of Occupation (GE), Vietnam Service and Vietnam Campaign medals, as well as, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and Combat Infantryman Badge.
He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1925, the son of the late Laurence and Josephine (Browne) Abercrombie, and was preceded in death by Regina (Berkhout) Abercrombie, his wife of nearly 50 years.
Milo's military career took him and his family across the country and around the world. Since 1966, he resided in San Diego, Calif., and settled there after his 1975 military retirement in Hawaii, before moving to Virginia six years ago.
