PP was the s/o William Fernilson Davis and Sarah "Sallie"Womack Davis. He was one of 8 sons, 6 of which served withe the CSA Forces.

He married Elizabeth P "Betsey" Barnett in 1849. (sister of Thomas Allen Davis' wife). They Had 6 children:
Thomas Jefferson Davis (1850-1912)
Nancy Caroline Davis Thomasson ( 1852-1928)
John Anderson Davis (1855-1928)
David Rollins Davis (1856-1931)
Arminda Angeline "Mandy" Davis ( 1858-1921 ) w/o Zachary Taylor Green.. my great grandparents.
and finally William Hamby Davis (1860- ? in Tennessee)

Philip Pinkney Davis enlisted in the Civil War 20 September 1863 at the age of 42 years for the duration of the war. He died of Dropsy while he was in the Confederate Army, place not listed. He was a farmer & resided in Cleveland Co., NC (From NC Troops 1861-1765, P. 650. FHL,SLC,UT.) On 13 Nov 1854 he applied for a land-grant for fourteen acres of land on Brushy Creek adjoining lands of " The Speculation" and adjoining the Davis line. His grant was #373 and it was issued 28 December 1854. Cleveland Co NC Land Grants, p 279: Wm R Barnett is witness to 25 a land transaction on Sandy Creek for P.P. Davis, 1854 (Wm Barnett was his Father-in-law) __________________________________________________________ November 7th 1863
