He was the eldest son of Mary and Henry Diefenaugh. He was united in marriage to Shirley Eastabrooks on June 10, 1918 in Litchfield, Nebraska. To this union were born five children, two boys and three girls. They are: Lois, Dale, Fern, Margaret and Donald, all at home. He is also survived by his widow, three brothers and three sisters; Carl, Hershel, Mrs. Allie Minshull and Mrs. Edna Vian, all of Litchfield, Alfred of Purdum and Mrs. Hazel Albers of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. His father and mother preceded him in death in 1927.
He united with the Christian Church when a young man and has remained a faithful member since. He moved to Litchfield in March, 1907 and the last 30 years of his life has been in and around Litchfield.
He leaves many friends and relatives to mourn his departure.
Mr. Diefenbaugh enlisted as a soldier in the World War, June, 1918, from Loup City, Nebr. He was assigned to Battery C. 6th Regiment, Federal Army replacement Division, at Camp Zachary Taylor, Louisville, Ky. He was given an honorable discharge at the expiration of his service, December, 1918. He was an active member of Carl Farnsworth Post during its duration.
Funeral services were conducted last Friday afternoon at the Christian church, Rev. Kiser officiating, the music being furnish by a male quartet composed of Messers. Chas. Wolford, Paul Chipps, Ross Douglas and C.M. Anderson with Miss Thelma Frakes at the piano. Interment in the Litchfield cemetery.
