~ Obituary Oregonian Fri. Jan. 11, 1929 ~
Captain H. F. Todd, Portland yachtsman and business man, died Wednesday at his residence, 674 East Eighth street. He was 68 years of age and had been a resident of this city for the last 37 years.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the chapel of Snook and Whealdon. Interment will be in the Lincoln Memorial park cemetery.

Captain Todd was born at Salt Key in the Turks islands of the West Indies. When he was 18 years of age he went to Worcester, Mass., coming to Portland when he was 31. He was for many years owner and manager of the Oregon Distributing & Advertising company.

He was one of the founders of the Oregon Yacht club and served a term as commodore of that organization. He also was a founder of the Dinghy Club and a member of the Motor Boat Club and the Portland Rowing club. He owned seven different yachts during his activities as a yachtsman on the river. Probably the most famous were the Grayling which took the championship challenge cup at the regatta held here about ten years ago, and the Skylark, which won many trophies.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Paterson, Mrs. Beatrice Keylock, Miss Dorothy Todd and Miss Marjory Todd.

NOTE - a second obituary, January 12, 1929 further stated: "he was one of the best known yachtsmen on the Pacific coast. He owned the yachts Lark, Skylark, Zephyr, Fore 'n Aft and the Grayling and won the Pacific coast championship with each of them".
