"Vincent Patrick Girard passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 81 years. The son of the late Anna (Schmidt) and Louis Girard was born October 30, 1925 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Josephine Gilles, July 13, 1946. She passed away February 3, 2002. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was employed by General Motors, Metal Casting Div. (Malleable Iron) retiring with 32 years of service. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and was an avid golfer. Surviving are two daughters, one son, Arlene LaTarte and her special friend, Richard Kusowski, Michael Girard and his fiancé, Fran List, Suzanne Bishop and her husband, John, all of Saginaw, MI; four grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Rebecca LaTarte, Michael and Tara Girard, Shaun and Lauren Girard, Jason Minard and his father, Wally Minard who is also a special family friend; six great-grandchildren, Brenden and Tyler LaTarte, Cody Jarrard, Scott, Gavin and Andrew Girard; a sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Vic Twaro, Saginaw, MI; many nieces and nephews. Several brothers and sisters have predeceased him. The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2006, at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Rev. Donald Christensen will officiate with Military burial in St. Andrew Cemetery under the auspice of V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may call at the W.L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday where a Vigil for the deceased will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may then call at the church from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of the funeral Liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Andrew Catholic Church or Covenant V.N.A. Hospice Care, Cartwright Care Center.
