Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the service at Newburgh, Orange County, New York. He served as a Corporal in the Union Army in Company M, 2d New York Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for action on April 6, 1865 at Deatonsville (Sailor's Creek), Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of battle flag of 9th Virginia Infantry (C.S.A.)."
