He was employed as a salesman for Owens Illinois Glass Container Division for over 30 years, retiring in 1974.
In October, 1942, Paul joined the U.S. Navy, serving in San Francisco and Eureka, CA, before being assigned to the Destroyer Douglas H. Fox for the remainder of WWII.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara; his parents, Clifford J. and Angela C. Ackerman and his brother, John C. Ackerman, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Peter M. Ackerman; granddaughter, Breanna; great grandchildren: Adina, Michael and Talum, all of San Antonio; nephews, John C. Ackerman, Jr. (Carol) Salem, SC; Paul T. Ackerman (Cindy), Rochester, MI; Richard B. Ackerman, Lawton, MI; Brett T. Bottenfield (Teresa), San Antonio; sister-in-law, Bettina Notestine, San Antonio; brother-in-law Dr. S.C. Bottenfield (Danilea), Terlingua, TX; nieces: Taryn Johnson (Kris), San Antonio, TX; Stephanie Dermody (James), Fort Worth, TX and numerous grand nephews and nieces.
