William M. Hylton

William M. Hylton, 47, of 508 East Fourth, a veteran of World war I, died in a local hospital Friday.

Born in Council Grove, February 5, 1896, he had spent most of his life there, coming to Topeka in 1912, where he lived in 1918. Later he returned to Morris county where he lived until last October when he came to Topeka. During World war I he served with Comapny 5, 353d infantry, eighty-ninth division. He was a member of the Methodist church at Council Grove, the V.F.W. and the American Legion at White City.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Alice Hylton; a daughter, Mrs. Juanita Hensley, Topeka; a son, James C. Hylton; his father, J.C. Hylton, Council Grove; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Hawkins, Wilmington, Ill., and Mrs. Margie Morris, Ruch Hill, Mo., and three grandchildren.

His middle name comes from his WWI draft registration, which describes him as medium build and height, not bald, light hair and light blue eyes.
He was single, working as a truck driver for a Topeka mercantile company.
