James Mitchell Bigwood, 71, former merchant and postmaster at Clintonville, New York, died at his home at Clintonville on Saturday night, February 1, 1947. He had been in failing health.

Mr. Bigwood, who operated a general store and the village post office for a number of years, retired about three years previous.

He was survived by his wife, the former Theresa Keese of Au Sable Forks, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, Februay 4, 1947, at ten o'clock from St. Catherine's church, Clintonville. Rev. Harold P. McCabe, pastor, celebrated the mass of requiem, assisted by Rev. F. C. A. Cornish, Keeseville, as deacon and Rev. W. C. McMahon, Black Brook, sub-deacon. Rev. E. F. Sweeney, O. M. I., Essex was seated in the sanctuary.

Bearers were Russell Smith, Wilbur Finnegan, Frank Curran, Bernard Andrews, Thomas Winn and Benjamin Booth.

Burial was in Holy Name cemetery at Au Sable Forks, New York, where Rev. Harold McCabe recited prayers at the grave.
