Howard C. Sumpter of Nancy, Pulaski County, Kentucky, died at Humana Hospital Lake Cumberland after a long illness. He was 55 years old.

He was a farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Army (Korean conflict). He was a member of the Science Hill DAV Chapter 192. He was a member of Naomi Nazarene Church.

He was survived by his wife, Darline (Ard) Sumpter (married December 17, 1949 in Somerset, Kentucky); his son, H.C. Sumpter of Nancy, Kentucky; his daughters, Cathy Burkett and Lesia Sumpter, both of Nancy, Kentucky; his brothers, Harold Sumpter and Arlis Sumpter, both of Nancy, Kentucky; and his sister, Jenny (Sumpter) Muse of Somerset, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Sumpter and Ella (Dawes) Sumpter; and his brother, Lindsey Sumpter.

DAV services were held at the Pulaski Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at the Pulaski Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Perkins and Reverend Oscar Lobb officiating.
