Services were held at Rosewood Park on Aug. 10, 2004, for Fletcher Ozell Wolfe. He was 87 when he passed away on Aug. 6, 2004 in Plano. Fletcher Wolfe was born July 10, 1917, at Mullin in Mills County. He attended school in Madison County, graduating in 1935 from Madisonville High School. He attended Howard Payne College for two years. In 1937 he was employed by Western Union Telegraph Company as a bicycle messenger in Brownwood. He took Morse Code, automatic teleprinter operators and managerial training in that local office. His first assignment was in 1940 at Greenville as an operator. He served as manager at Alice, Greenville, Bastrop, Edinburg, Marshall and moved to Longview in 1951, where he retired after 37 years of Western Union service. He was a member of the John Wesley class and Wesley-McCabe United Methodist Church. He was married Feb. 5, 1939, to Frances Goddard. He and his wife moved to Plano to live with their daughter and son-in-law in November of 2000.
Survivors include his wife of Plano; daughter, Paula Sue Gilligan and her husband, James, of Plano; grandsons Jason Harmon and his wife, Michelle, of Richardson and David Gilligan of Plano; granddaughter, Tammy Clanton and her husband, Devin, of Sachse; great-grandson, Jacob Clanton of Sachse; sister, Charlotte Sutton of San Augustine; brothers, Johnny Wolfe of Friendswood and Morris Wolfe of Duncanville and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer and Alma Wolfe; brothers, Aubrey, Otha Lee and Clifford and his sister Juanita.
