E Sims (93067918)

Suggested edit: The son of South Carolina-born Wade H. & Alabama-born Mary A. Sims, in 1860 he living with his prosperous farming family in North Division, Talladega County, Alabama, with a family that listed fourteen slaves in the 1860 slave schedule. He apparently never married.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Talladega County and mustered into Confederate service possibly at Montgomery June 4, 1861, as a corporal with Co. E, 10th Alabama Infantry. Wounded at the battle of Gettysburg on July 3, 1863, presumably on the Confederate right near the Emmitsburg Road, he was carried as far as Chambersburg where he was left behind at School House Hospital. That put him into the hands of Federal forces who, sometime after July 31, forwarded him to a medical facility in Harrisburg where he died.
