Buried in a grave marked with a field stone bearing the initials "A.J." in the oldest section of the Flatwoods Cemetery, Andrew Hinkle (24 Feb. 1818-ca. 1870) was the son of William and Sarah (Downing) Hinkle. The Hinkle family relocated from Wayne/Hardin counties, TN., to Izard (later Stone Co, Ar in 1845.

Andrew married Mary Majors, (Nov. 1819-2 Nov. 1909), on 14 Sept 1845. (Andrew's brother, William Riley Hinkle, #29194350, married another sister, Frances Melissa Majors.)

Andrew and Mary (Majors) Hinkle had the following children, all born near Mountain View, in what is now Stone County:

2. James Riley Hinkle (1 June 1848-12 Apr. 1875) died unmarried.

4. Martha Anne Hinkle (10 Oct. 1852-27 Feb. 1926) md 17 Jan. 1896 to James T. Greenway.

5. Sarah Elizabeth Hinkle (20 Nov. 1854-9 Jan. 1941) md 14 Dec. 1877 to John Ramsey.

6. John R. Hinkle (15 Dec. 1856-16 Mar. 1939) md 11 Sept. 1886 to Julia Balinger. 2 children

7. #29194475/#29194475; Alonzo Joshua Hinkle (19 Jan. 1858-16 Aug. 1923) md 13 Mar 1892 to Sally Miser. 5 children .

8. Melissa C. Hinkle (16 Aug. 1861-16 May 1943) md 30 Aug. 1891 to George W. Morrison. 3 children.

9. Elijah Benjamin Hinkle (16 Jan. 1864-16 May 1945) md 15 Sept. 1890 to Ollie Miser, daughter of Samuel Henry Miser and Susan Chappell Miser.
