2nd Baronet. He was the son of Sir Robert Leicester Harmsworth, 1st Bt. and Annie Louisa Scott. He married Margaret Florence Ivy Hall on 2 July 1936. He and Margaret Florence Ivy Hall were divorced in 1939. He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, and at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford. He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 8th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment. He was chairman of Retford and Gainsborough Times Company. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Harmsworth, of Moray Lodge, Kensington.
