ROY L. FDWARDS
Funeral services for Roy L. Edwards, 82, of West were held Sunday, December 19, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Kosciusko. Rev. Jerry Meggs, assisted by Gene Richardson officiated with interment in West City Cemetery in West.
Mr. Edwards died Saturday, December 18 of heart failure at Montfort Jones Hospital in Kosciusko.
A native of Carroll County, he was retired from the Miss. State Highway Department. Mr. Edwards was a member of Unity Baptist Church where he was a deacon since 1968. He was also a veteran of World War II and member of VFW and DAV, and of West Masonic Lodge #532.
He is survived by: his wife, Gladys Edwards of West; one son, Johnny Edwards of West; four daughters, Betty Willis of Vicksburg, Patsy Gilmore, Mary Hudson, and Carolyn White, all of West; two brothers, Denton Edwards of Greenwood and Harvey Edwards of West; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Pete, and one daughter, Patricia.
Pallbearers were: Chris Gilmore, Mike Edwards, Matt Hudson, Nick White, Randy Bass, Randy Williams, Buster Howard and Randy Hancock. Honorary pallbearers were deacons, Dake Swoope, M. K. Thornton, Dr. Alford and Jerry Allen.
