After going into the Emerson Art Glass business in the 1890's with his father Edwin A Emerson hand painting lead glass windows for churches. Edwin became involved with airplanes and was employed as a ground mechanic for the first airmail service. He was friends with Wright brothers naming his second son born 1909 Orville Wilbur. He moved to Hempstead LI NY the hub of the air industry at Roosevelt Field and had tuned plane of Charles Lindbergh Spirit of St. Louis before he made 1st trip to Paris .
