---Gloria L. Arnold, 81, of Marshall, died on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at the Whispering Pine Meadows Adult Foster Care Home.
---Mrs. Arnold was born on October 3, 1930, in Springport to Hoyle and Agnes (Winegar) McMurtrie. She graduated from Parma Schools in 1947. On October 30, 1953, she married Edward L. Arnold at the North Parma Church. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1986.
---Mrs. Arnold owned and operated the Dug Out restaurant in Marshall for several years. She also cooked for the Emily Andrus Home in Battle Creek for many years. Her cooking was enjoyed by many when she would cater to the Lions Club, a wedding or helping organize the kitchen at the Marshall United Methodist Church. Mrs. Arnold was a member of the Marshall United Methodist Church where she took part in many different groups at the church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Arnold enjoyed traveling, gardening, and working in her flower garden. She especially enjoyed cooking at her home for friends and family.
---She is survived by her two sons: Bruce (Debbie) Arnold, and Rex (Kelli) Arnold all of Marshall, daughter-in-law Robin Arnold, three grandchildren Ben Arnold, Rebecca Arnold, both of Marshall, and Katharine Arnold of Omaha, Nebraska. She is also survived by her sister Janet Towns of Eaton Rapids, three brothers Calvin McMurtrie, Wesley McMurtrie, both of Parma, and Doug McMurtrie of Grayling.
---She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son John Arnold, daughter Mary Arnold, and brother Eugene McMurtrie.
---Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Monday July 2, 2012, from 2-8pm with family present from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral services celebrating her life will take place on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at the Marshall United Methodist Church with Reverend Len Schoenherr officiating. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Family requests friends make memorial contributions to the United Methodist Church Missions or to the Calhoun County Relay for Life.
