William Anhalt, 85, former resident of Valders, died Tuesday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christianson Funeral Home, Valders, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. The Rev. Leander Nickel will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Anhalt was born July 23, 1884, in Town of Cato, Manitowoc County, son of the late Anton and Marie Picschel Anhalt. He married Elsie Mahloch Jan. 30, 1912, at Clarks Mills. She preceded him in death June 26, 1968. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Mary Church.
Survivors include four sons, Henry, J.A. Anhalt, Owen and William, of Manitowoc; five daughters, Mrs. August (Alyce) Walber of Chilton, Mrs. Alvin (Gertrude) Adelman of Manitowoc, Mrs. John (Leona) Letenberger of Brookfield, Mrs. Ralph (Betty) Binversie of Valders and Mrs. Richard (Helen) Schmidt of Appleton; a brother, Joe, of Rt. 1, Cato; 39 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.A son, Bernard, killed in World War II, a brother and four sisters preceded him in death.
