SGT. A. F. JURICIC DIES FIGHTING FOR COUNTRY

KILLED MONTH AFTER ARRIVAL OVERSEAS;
4-MONTH OLD SON SURVIVES

Sgt. August F. Juricic, Joliet Infantryman, has been added to the gold start list of Will County servicemen who have paid the supreme sacrifice in the country's war effort, it was learned today when a telegram from Adj. General. A. Ulio disclosed that the sergeant died in action in France on August 10.

The soldier's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Juricic of 1214 Nicholson Street, and his widow, the former Ann Onofrey, 835 Porter Avenue, were told that a letter would follow, giving an explanation of the action in which the hero died.

SON BEARS HIS NAME

Twin sons were born to Sgt. And Mrs. Juricic on April 30. One of the babies died several days later but the four-month-old, August, Jr., perpetuates his hero father's name. The sergeant was on leave at the time of the birth of the twins and left for overseas duty in early July.

The 26-year old soldier was born and reared in Joliet. He attended the St. Mary's Croatian School and the Joliet Township High School. Prominent in athletic circles, he was a star player on the Moran A. C. baseball team. He was employed by the Moore Corporation prior to his entrance into military service, November 28, 1941. His friends knew him as "Gus".

PLAN MEMORIAL SERVICE

In addition to his parents, widow and son, he is survived by two brothers, Walter and John and four sisters, Mrs. Roy Whiteman, Mrs. Isadore Setina, Mrs. Edward Majetic and Miss Rose Juricic.

A memorial service for Sgt. Juricic is being planned and will be announced when the arrangements are complete.
