Barbara was the daughter of Johnson Taylor. She was first married Samuel L. Wilson on January 18, 1866, in Miami, Kansas. They were the parents of four children: Andrew Jackson, Samuel, Ida Lee and Norris Felix. She then married Alfred McCurdy, a widower, on October 23, 1890, in Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas. They had no children.

By 1904, they had moved to Leavenworth, Kansas, where Alfred died in 1924. Barbara was living with her daughter, Ida King, in 1925, eventually moving to Lafayette, Missouri, where she is found living with her son, Andrew. She was a resident of Kansas and Missouri during her lifetime and passed away in Odessa, Missouri, in 1937.

Funeral services were held on January 5th at the residence of her daughter, Ida King, 330 North James Street in Kansas City, Kansas, and then to the Reising Funeral Chapel. She was survived by her daughter and two sons. Her son, Samuel, passed away before 1900.
