Judy K. Newman, 58, of Dayton, died at her home Friday, Jan. 17, 2003.

She was born in Dodge City, Kan., on June 3, 1944, the daughter of Betty J. (Nelson) Daniels and the late Walter H. Daniels.

Judy has lived in Dayton since 1992, moving here from Battle Creek, Mich., where she lived for 30 years. While living in Battle Creek, Judy attended Harper Creek Schools and was Homecoming Queen for 1961 and was previously on the Court. She was a cheerleader and on the student council. Graduation was June 3, 1962 and she received an art scholarship and attended school in Minneapolis, MN. She was also employed at the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek and most recently she was employed with Century 21 Hazel Roberson Realtors in Dayton. She was a member of the New Union Baptist Church and the Dayton Garden Club.

Survivors include her husband, William "Bill" Newman of Dayton; mother, Betty J. Daniels of Tavares, Fla.; sister, Diane Gardner of Orlando, Fla.; two nieces, Lisa Gardner of Madeira Beach, Fla. and Sonya Gardner of Crystal River, Fla.; nephew, Eric Gardner of Crystal River, Fla.; step daughter, Jacqueline Newman and step son, Will Newman, both of Dayton.
