William C. Prall, 65, Swift & Company employee here for many years and later with Atlantic Produce until retiring, was found dead Sunday morning at his apartment, 319 1/2 Walnut Street. He had been in poor health for several years and death was pronounced suicide.
He was born in Atlantic Oct. 19, 1904, the son of Thaddeus Edmund and Elsie Worth Prall and was married to Gertrude Cranston. He was married later to Lillian Butcher who preceded him in death May 18, 1961. He also was employed several years with the Rock Island railroad and more recently with the Keim pool hall.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Crum; a son, Leroy (Bus) Prall, and four grandchildren, all of Des Moines; three brothers, Leo Prall of Atlantic, Arthur Prall of Sigourney and Clyde (Tub) Prall, Jackson, Tenn.; six sisters, Mrs. Earl Hensley and Mrs. Walt Tracy of Atlantic, Mrs. Merlin Mayberry of Wiota, Mrs. Paul Grant, Lincoln, Nebr., Mrs. Bernice Hupp, Waterloo and Mrs. Earl Winterstein, Creston. Proceding him in death were two sisters, Mrs. Florence Kinnersley and Mabel, in infancy, and a brother, Earl, also in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Roland funeral home, the Rev. Dave Kimball of the First Baptist Church officiating. The family will meet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 7:30 to 9 this evening and burial will be in the Atlantic cemetery.
