Hannah was born 1761 in the parent county of Rowan, North Carolina. That part of Rowan would later become Randolph County when it was formed in 1779. Her parents, Jeremiah Reynolds (1726-1815) and wife, Susanna/Susannah Chamness (1738-1812), made Rowan - now known as Randolph County, NC - their home shortly before her birth. Although they attended church at Centre Friends Meeting which is in southern Guilford County they resided in northern Randolph County. Hannah's parents are interred at Providence Friends Meeting in Randolph County, North Carolina.

On 28 December, 1791 she was united in a Quaker marriage to William Hockett (1763-1843) of Guilford County, North Carolina. Both William and Hannah Reynolds Hockett were members of The Society of Friends by birthright. They made their home in Guilford County. Their known children:

William Hockett....b. 23 Jun 1799

Rachel Hockett....b. 6 Oct 1802
