Grace L. Smeltzer Moats, 383 Dowling Road, Jamestown, passed away at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 72.

Mrs. Moats was born Oct. 20, 1937, in Huntingdon, Pa., to Norman and Eleanor Briggs Smeltzer.

She was employed for 27 years as a cook at Thiel College, Greenville, and worked for 30 years at Veg-Acres, Jamestown.

Grace was a member of Stateline United Methodist Church, Jamestown. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed bingo, bowling and knitting.

Her husband, Albert Gene Moats, whom she married June 21, 1952, passed away July 7, 1998.

Surviving are: three sons, Norman Moats and Bob Moats and his companion Sara Muck, all Jamestown; and David Moats, Greenville; six daughters, Mary, widow of William Weimert; Helen and her husband Pete Mowrycq; Ruth and her husband Matthew Gill, and Darla and her husband Bob Fry, all Jamestown; Julie and her husband Gary Griswold, Greenville; and Robin Beatty and her companion Roy Reese, Mercer; two sisters, Mildred and her husband Tom Donahue; and Linda and her husband Milton Mowery cq Jr., all Garden City, Kan.; and three brothers, Clinton "Sonny" Smeltzer and his wife Wilma; and David Smeltzer and his wife Marilyn, all Greenville; and Allen "Butch" Smeltzer and his wife Marlene, Garden City.

Grace also leaves 44 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Albert Gene Moats Jr.
