A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of Nina Varner Apple, and son of the late Roy C. and Sallie Boone Apple. He was a retired employee of Cone Mills, Mineola Plant, and a member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church, where he was a former member of the Board of Trustees. He was active in the Gibsonville Youth Recreation Department, and was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday at Apple's Chapel Christian Church, by the Rev. C. Allen Myers III, pastor of the church, and assisted by the Rev. Lester Stanley, associate pastor. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Surviving are wife, Mrs. Nina Varner Apple of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Sallie Rhodes of Gibsonville, Miss Joanna Apple of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Frost, Mrs. Evelyn Wall both of Gibsonville, Mrs. Mary Edna Hutchinson of Greensboro; one brother, Otis Apple of McLeansville; one granddaughter, Mrs. Robert (Kellie) R. Brandon of Blanche, and one great-granddaughter, Miss Taylor Brandon of Blanche.
He was predeceased by a brother, Rosco Apple of Carthage.
