John Charles Borland was born in upstate New York in 1858. He married the former Mary Jane Bushaw of Russell, New York and she bore him three children. Harold E, Floyd J and Ethel. The marriage ended in divorce when John sued Albert D Gardner in Court for alienation of affection. John never remarried and died at the age of 89 at his daughters home in Binghamton, New York in 1947. His former wife preceeded him in death in 1943.
