David Ray Davis

David Ray "Dave" Davis, age 85, of Nixa, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012, in Mercy Villa, Springfield. He was born February 7, 1927, in Douglas County, the son of Adnea and Ethel (Housley) Davis.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. On July 5, 1948, he and his wife, Esther Mary Ann Bastian, were united in marriage. Mr. Davis was a heavy equipment repairman, and owned Davco Automatic in Nixa for over 60 years.

He loved the bible was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Mountain Grove, where he taught Sunday School, and served as an evangelist. He enjoyed fishing, big game hunting, and turkey hunting.

Survivors include: Two children, Danny Davis, Forsyth, and Cathy Kendrick and husband Jim, Springfield; one granddaughter, Maria Oma Davis; and a sister, Ann Mays, Huntington Beach, California.

He was preceded in death by his wife on March 7, 1973, his parents, and a brother, William Davis. The family wishes to thank the staff of Mercy Villa for the loving care of their father, David.

A celebration of his life will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 14, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Chaplain Ann Payette and Gregory Groves officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Delaware Cemetery, west of Nixa. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
