William Wallace Burns was born in McLean County, Ill on the 24th day of August, 1859 and departed this life January 26th, 1923 at the age of 83 year, five months and two days.
At the age of seven he came to Iowa from Illinois and settled in Lima, some time later he moved to Arlington, where he passed away. In early manhood he was united in marriage with Miss Jennings of Lima and this union was blessed with one child, Mrs. C. E. Perkins of Oelwein, their wife and mother died about fifteen years ago.
In the year 1912, he was again united in marriage with Martha Bruce of Arlington.
Besides the sorrowing wife and daughter, he leaves three brothers and two sisters, John of Volga City, Robert and Charles of North Dakota [Robert actually lived in South Dakota,] Mrs. Harriet Row [Wroe] and Mary L. of Montana and Grandma Benedict of Arlington who has been confined to her bed for a number of years.
He was converted about ten years ago and united with the United Brethren Church to which he was faithful till death.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 27th at 1:30pm in the Methodist Church conducted by Rev. James Miller of Wadena, Rev. Crumb pastor of the Methodist Church also taking part in the service.
