Herbert Aaron Jenkins, 81, 121 Hastings Drive, Moyock, NC died Monday, May 21, 2012 at his home. Born in Charleston, WV, he was the son of the late Ernest Earl Jenkins and Mamie Peal Jenkins and was the husband of the late Carrie Jean Mock Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was a veteran, having served thirty years in the United States Navy prior to retirement as a Chief Boatswains Mate. During his time in the Navy he served in both the Korean War and in Viet Nam. Following retirement, Mr. Jenkins worked as a rigger supervisor for Norshipco for seventeen years.

He is survived by two sons, Randall B. Jenkins, Sr. and wife Patricia of Gates, NC and Charles C. Jenkins and Sheila of Moyock, NC; a sister, Nancy Hodgkins of Texas; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and his special friend and Navy buddy, John Webster. In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by two sisters, JoAnn Snodgrass and Doris Lawrence; three brothers, Carl Jenkins, Harold Jenkins and Earl Jenkins; and his great-granddaughter, McKenna Jenkins.

A graveside funeral service with full military honors will take place Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 9:00 AM at Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. at Twiford's Memorial Chapel.
