Abbie Sue Burns, 71, died Sept. 25, 2004, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida.

Mrs. Burns was born Aug. 22, 1933, in Geary, Okla., to John L. and Sarah (Clark) Rash.

Mrs. Burns moved to Salida in 1964 from Burlington. She married James Burns on March 3, 1956, in Aztec, N.M. She graduated from Ouray High School in 1952.

She enjoyed painting, collecting angels and gardening. She especially liked watching her grandchildren play sports.

Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Willis, Jessie, John Jr., Ted and James Rash.

She is survived by her husband, James Burns, Salida; daughter Raedell (Bob) Trueblood, Salida; sister Eveline Nance of El Reno, Okla.; grandchildren Adam Pierce, Britny Pierce, Matthew Trueblood and Chance Trueblood, all of Salida.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 29, 2004, at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to the American Lung Association through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Fr. Henry Grodecki CM, officiated. Organist was Tommie Hughes and soloist was Jeanne Kostelic. Musical selections were, �Old Rugged Cross� and �How Great Thou Art.�
Pallbearers were Bob Trueblood, Adam Pierce, Doug Larson, Fred Jackson, Rex Riggenbach and Leon Stanton.

Honorary Pallbearers were Britny Pierce, Matthew Trueblood, Chance Trueblood, Hank Saucke and Louie Saucke. Gail Martinez read a poem Mrs. Burns had written.

Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
