Daniel Jonathan "Danny" Smith, age 53, of Northport, died Dec. 20, 2011. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Pearson and Rev. Max Stripling officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lonnie L. Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Smith of Northport; his daughters, Stephanie Robertson (Michael) of Northport, Amber Sandford of Fayette, and Jessica Smith of Northport; his mother, Juanita Smith of Samantha; his brother, Phillip Smith Sr. (Tina) of Samantha; his sisters, Daphne Lollar (Mike) of Tuscaloosa and Patty Woodham (Rodney) of Samantha; five grandchildren, Destiny Brooke and Canyon Robertson, Isaiah, Tucker, and Lexie Grace Sanford; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
Pallbearers will be Joey Sullivan, Tim Sullivan, Wayne Rice, Bill Rice, Paul Harless, Albert West, Aaron West, Steve West, Todd Bolton, and Randy Cannon.
Honorary pallbearers are Buster and Charlene Bolton, Rev. and Mrs. Dewey Thomas, Dale McMillian, the Samantha Volunteer Fire Department, and the people of the Samantha community.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one's church or favorite charity.
