Edwin D. Ballinger, 83, of Decatur died 10:38 a.m. Monday (Jan. 12, 1987) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with 7:30 p.m. Masonic rites. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: Grace United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Mr. Ballinger was born in Decatur, son of J. Lou and Minnie Ann Ballinger. He was former owner/operator of Diller Meat Market, retiring in 1967; a member of Grace United Methodist Church; Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge 979 AF&AM; Springfield Consistory; Beaumonoir Commandry No. 9; Decatur Shrine Club. He married Stella E. McConnell in 1926.
Surviving are his wife; brother, Jess M. of Decatur; sisters, Myrtle Vest and Mrs. Fred (Mildred) Reich both of Decatur.
Three brothers and one sister preceed him in death.
